Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing Aston Villa forward Jonathan Kodjia in the summer transfer window.
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has told The Birmingham Mail that the club do not plan to sell Jonathan Kodjia in the summer transfer window.
Kodjia has been one of the best players for Villa so far this season and has been a key reason behind their late push for the Championship playoffs.
The 27-year-old forward has scored 18 goals and created 19 chances in 32 league matches for the Villans so far this campaign.
According to a recent report in The Daily Mail, Premier League clubs are interested in signing the Ivory Coast international in the summer transfer window.
Villa manager Bruce, though, has insisted that there is no plan to part company with the forward, although he has admitted that a big offer could change the club’s stance.
“There will be all sorts of questions throw at us because he’s had an outstanding season,” Bruce told The Birmingham Mail. “But I don’t envisage any problems. We will do our utmost to keep him here.”
“He’s only been here eight months or so and he’s got a four-year contract,” added Bruce. “On top of that, we’re Aston Villa and we want to get into the Premier League and that means we want to keep hold of our best players.
“That’s the simple outlook. But you can never say never. If Chelsea come in tomorrow and offer ridiculous money then everybody has got their price unfortunately, that’s the way football is.”
Kodjia joined Villa from Bristol City in the summer of 2016 for an initial transfer fee of £11 million, as reported by BBC Sport.
The forward has proved to be a brilliant signing for the Villans, and the fans will hope that the club hang onto him next season.
However, if Villa fail to get promoted to the Premier League at the end of the season, then it would be hard for the club to keep him at Villa Park beyond the summer.
