It was reported that Villa had made a £3m bid for the Nottingham Forest man.
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce revealed in his press conference on Thursday that reports that the club have made an offer for Nottingham Forest midfielder Henri Lansbury are incorrect, although he did confirm there is interest in a deal, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
Villa are thought to be on the lookout for midfield reinforcements this month as they look to bolster their squad in an attempt to launch a sustained play-off push in the second half of the season.
One name that has been mentioned over the last week or so is that of Lansbury.
The Forest star has been at the City Ground since 2012, playing 150 games for the club, but is out of contract in the summer and has been widely linked with a move away.
Forest’s arch-rivals Derby County were reported to have made a £2.5 million offer to steal the 26-year-old star, but earlier this week it was claimed that Villa had upped the ante with a £3 million bid of their own.
However, speaking to reporters ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup tie with Tottenham Hotspur, Bruce dismissed that report and insisted that Villa’s interest has not gone beyond an initial enquiry.
Bruce said, via the Birmingham Mail: “We’ve made an enquiry about Lansbury. That’s as far as it’s gone so far.
“There’s nothing more than that just yet.”
Lansbury would bring a wealth of Championship experience to any club he may join this month, but it appears as though Villa have not taken their interest as far as previously reported.
