Aston Villa beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 in the Championship this afternoon.
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has told the club’s official website that he has waited 20 years for the Holte End to be chanting his name.
Villa were in action against Blackburn Rovers this afternoon, and with Bruce having drawn twice and won twice from his four games in charge, he was looking to continue his unbeaten start to life at Villa Park.

Blackburn threatened to end that run though, as Southampton loanee Sam Gallagher struck Owen Coyle’s men in front on 54 minutes.
However, Jonathan Kodjia hit back just four minutes later as he converted a penalty after Jack Grealish had been fouled, before Kodjia produced a fine finish to make it 2-1 and seal the win for Villa.
Now just five points off the play-off places, Villa are upwardly mobile under Bruce, and their comeback win at Villa Park sparked celebrations from the home crowd.

After the final whistle, manager Bruce spoke to the Villa official website, and admitted that he has been waiting 20 years for the famous Holte End at Villa Park to chant his name.
Bruce both played for and managed fierce rivals Birmingham City, meaning he was never the most popular of figures at Villa Park, but Bruce was glad to have the ‘fantastic’ fans chanting his name today.

Bruce added that he felt summer signing Mile Jedinak – who has been heavily criticised since his move from Crystal Palace – had his best game for the club today.
“Well I’ve been waiting 20 years for that!” said Bruce. “They’ve been nothing short of fantastic. It’s great that they’re in full voice and that they’ve gone home happy tonight. They’ve seen the team roll their sleeves up, especially when we were 1-0 down. They showed a bit of character which is what we need.”
“Mile Jedinak had his best game for us today so the new players are starting to adapt. Hopefully we can move onwards and upwards,” he added.
