Sheffield Wednesday boss Steve Bruce has told the Yorkshire Post that it would have been cruel to pick Gary Hooper last night.

Hooper scored for Wednesday at the weekend in their 3-1 defeat to Aston Villa.

However, the forward started on the substitutes’ bench yesterday evening against Nottingham Forest.

And Bruce said: “We were enforced to make four changes and I was always wary of (Gary) Hooper – as two games in 48 hours would have been cruel on him.”

Despite the changes Wednesday still managed to go on an pick up a highly impressive victory.

The Owls won 3-0 against Forest and their second half performance was eye catching.

Wednesday scored three goals in 11 minutes to run away with the three points and move up to ninth in the Championship table.

Wednesday are now just four points away from the play off spaces, and still have a slight chance of breaking into the top six, if they keep up their winning form over the remainder of the campaign.
