Newcastle United managed to pick up three points at the weekend, with Jonjo Shelvey impressing in midfield.

Newcastle ran out 3-2 winners over West Ham United on Saturday, with Shelvey recalled to make his first start in over a month.
Shelvey featured alongside Isaac Hayden in Newcastle’s midfield and impressed as the Magpies picked up the three points in the London.
Shelvey and Hayden replaced the Longstaff brothers, as Newcastle put in one of their best performances of the season against the Hammers.
And Bruce believes that he got his team selection bang on at the London Stadium.
“I just thought Jonjo, if we needed a pass, could give a pass,” Bruce said.
“With set-pieces, he’s made one and scored one. Always, in the back of my mind, I knew he was a West Ham fan, so this is a stage he wants to play on. He was very good. He’s got to maintain it. I got the decision right.”

Newcastle’s win over West Ham could actually have been more comfortable, but they didn’t manage to covert all their chances in the first half.
Bruce’s side looked very dangerous on the break, with Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron causing all sorts of problems.
Newcastle are now sat in 15th place in the Premier League table, with their next match coming against Bournemouth at St. James’ Park.
