Aston Villa are yet to win a match in 2017, and now sit just six points above the relegation zone.
Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce has told the Daily Star that the job at Villa Park is proving to be more difficult than he anticipated.
Bruce sparked an initial improvement after taking over at the Midlands club, but their form recently has been worrying.
Villa are yet to win in 2017, and they have slid down the Championship table into 17th place.
The claret and blues are just six points above the relegation zone, and Bruce admitted last week that he was fearful his side could get dragged into a battle against the drop.
And the 56-year-old now suggests that the job at Villa has been a bigger struggle than he thought it would be.
“We have six new players, it took me 10 minutes to sign them all because they all wanted to come here,” Bruce said.
“I hope I can get a few results because that would give me some stability and then be able to get a team that I associate with.
“But the job’s probably more difficult than I thought it would be.”
Bruce was backed with a lot of funds in the January transfer market, but the new arrivals at the Midlands club are yet to have the desired impact.
Villa are in dire need to get back to winning ways, but their task of doing so does not appear to be an easy one.
Bruce’s side are heading into a very tough run of fixtures, with their next match coming against league leaders Newcastle United at St. James’ Park later this evening.
