Steve Bruce is still unbeaten since taking charge of Aston Villa.

Steve Bruce has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on TalkSPORT on 25th October, that the first thing at Aston Villa which he realised needed to be changed was the squad’s mentality.
Bruce walked into a Villa side who had won just one of their first 11 Championship matches, and he felt that the squad had got used to losing.
Villa won just three matches last season, as they were relegated from the Premier League, and Bruce has been quick to try and give the players back some confidence.

“We had to change the mentality,” the former Hull City boss said. “That’s not going to be changed overnight. To be fair to the previous regime I think they lost nine or 10 points in the last five minutes of five games. They could have had another 10 points on the board and I wouldn’t be in the job.
“The big thing is just to try and blow a bit of belief and confidence into a few and stop this mentality of getting used to losing.”
Bruce has made an immediate impact at Villa, and he has helped them close the gap on the play off places.

Villa have taken seven points from their first three games under Bruce’s stewardship, to start moving up the Championship table.
The claret and blues are currently in 16th place in the second tier standings, but they are now only six points away from the top six.
Villa are next in action at the weekend in what looks set to be a fierce Midlands derby against Birmingham City at St. Andrews.
