Aston Villa are said to be keen on signing Southampton forward Charlie Austin.

Steve Bruce has previously admitted regretting not signing Charlie Austin, but he appears to be trying to right that wrong at Aston Villa.
Bruce was in charge at Hull City, when he admitted regret at not bringing in Austin.
“It’s been probably the worst decision that this club has made [not signing Austin], certainly in the last three years,” Bruce said to EuroSport.

“He’s a terrific centre-forward and he would have been great in our team, but it wasn’t to be.”
Villa are keen to do a deal with Southampton for the 28-year-old, as the two clubs could swap divisions next season.

Villa look certain to secure a place in the Championship play offs, while Southampton are in serious danger of going down.
If Austin was to be brought to Villa he would significantly strengthen Bruce’s side’s attacking options for next season.
Austin has hit six goals for Southampton this season and remains their top scorer.
