Steve Bruce admits some of Aston Villa’s squad are very frustrated with him; explains why

Aston Villa have won four of their last five matches to start climbing the Championship table.

Steve Bruce has told the Birmingham Mail that some of Aston Villa’s players are frustrated with him, as they are not playing as regularly as they were hoping.

Villa have one of the largest squads in the Championship, with competition for places fierce.

The claret and blues currently have a number of players who would surely be starters at other clubs, who cannot even make their substitutes’ bench.

And Bruce admits that some Villa players are frustrated with their lack of game time.

“Some of them are not happy right now and they have a right not to be happy if they’re not playing,” Bruce said.

“Of course, you can have the huff for a little while. that’s normal.

“But come and knock down the door and bash me up if they want. Not a problem.

“There hasn’t been any of that bashing up yet. No chance!”

The strength of Villa’s squad has finally been highlighted in recent times, as they have begun to live up to their billing as promotion favourites.

The claret and blues have won four of their last five matches to start to move up the Championship table.

Villa are currently in fifth place, and look to be getting stronger by the game under Bruce’s leadership.

Bruce’s men are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Birmingham City at St. Andrews.
