Mile Jedinak is set to miss out on playing in Aston Villa’s match against Blackburn Rovers this weekend.
Steve Bruce has told the Birmingham Mail that Aston Villa midfielder Mile Jedinak has been playing with injury for six weeks now.
Jedinak is expected to be rested by Villa, during their match against Blackburn Rovers at the weekend.
And Bruce claims that the 32-year-old deserves a break, as he has been playing through a groin injury for some time.
“He’s been carrying an injury for the best part of six weeks really,” Bruce revealed.
“He’s been nursing it through the week, not really training, and basically getting ready for the games.
“In that respect, he’s been very, very good. We’ve all enjoyed watching him.
“He doesn’t play in a spectacular way, but defensively he’s given us that solidness and he makes us difficult to beat.”
Jedinak may now have represented Villa for the last time this season, but he is expected to have a key role to play next term.
Bruce has spoken very highly of the Australian international since he has taken charge at Villa Park.
In Jedinak’s absence, Gary Gardner may be called upon to step into Villa’s starting line-up.
The claret and blues have little to play for over the remainder of the season, other than pride, but they will be backed by over 8,000 fans at Ewood Park tomorrow.
