Jamie Sterry is Newcastle United’s only fit right-back at the moment.

Newcastle United have some serious problems at right-back at the moment.
Javier Manquillo started there for Newcastle in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Cardiff City due to DeAndre Yedlin’s absence with a knee injury.
However, the Spanish defender came off injured at half time as Rafael Benitez replaced him with central midfielder Isaac Hayden, who was sent off midway through the second half.
Benitez told The Shields Gazette afterwards that it was too early to comment on Manquillo’s injury and it looks possible the Spanish manager might be forced to use Jamie Sterry soon.
The 22-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan in League Two but with Yedlin and Manquillo injured at the moment, Sterry is the only recognised right-back.
Worryingly, Newcastle’s next game is at home to free-scoring Chelsea and fans of the St James’s Park side will be praying that Yedlin has recovered from his knee problem by then.
If not, it seems probable that the academy defender – who has one Premier League appearance under his belt – might well be used when the Blues visit the North East.
