Stephon Castle’s mother, Quannette Castle, has called for calm among San Antonio Spurs fans after the team lost their opening game of the NBA Finals.

The Spurs fell 105-95 to the New York Knicks in Game 1, leaving some supporters frustrated by the start to the series. Quannette Castle took to X in response, urging fans to keep things in perspective.

Castle acknowledged the disappointment but reminded fans that it is early in the series, telling them to “stop jumping ship after one game”.

She also pointed back to the team’s earlier struggles against Minnesota, using that as a reminder that one game does not decide a series.

While she admitted the Spurs “must play better,” she also expressed confidence that they would respond.

Her message struck a balance, recognising the concerns but cautioning against overreaction so early in the Finals.

Castle’s own performance added another layer to the conversation. The Spurs guard finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and three assists, providing production across several areas even as San Antonio lost.

His shooting was mixed, as Castle shot 43.8 percent from the field and went 1-for-5 from three-point range.

It was a performance that gave San Antonio something to build on, even if it was not enough to change the outcome.

Quannette Castle’s message reflected that balance, acknowledging the need for improvement but urging fans not to let one result shape their view of the series.

For the Spurs, the focus now turns to how they respond after an early setback on the NBA’s biggest stage.
