Leeds United picked up a hugely impressive win on Friday night as they smashed Aston Villa 3-0 at Villa Park thanks to a Patrick Bamford hat-trick.

The Whites travelled to the Midlands for a tough game given that Villa had won all four of their Premier League games this season, including a 7-2 thumping of Liverpool.

Leeds obliterated them in the second half though, with Bamford grabbing his first when Rodrigo’s shot was saved by Emiliano Martinez, and he grabbed a second with a stunning left-footed finish.

His third was just as special, as he curled the ball beyond Martinez to seal a 3-0 victory for the Whites, meaning they now sit fourth in the Premier League table.

Bamford stole the headlines with his hat-trick, but defender Luke Ayling has now come in for major praise for his performance in the victory.

The 29-year-old has been exceptional in the first few weeks of the season, finally seizing his chance to play Premier League football having previously been at Arsenal.

Pundit Stephen Warnock – formerly of Leeds – took to Twitter on Saturday evening to offer his view, praising the incredible football on show, whilst naming Ayling as his ‘standout player’ ahead of Bamford.

Warnock believes you can play Ayling anywhere and he will impress, adding that he is the most improved player he has seen, which is huge praise from the ex-Liverpool man.
