Burton Albion defender Stephen Warnock has spoken highly of Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

The 35-year-old former Liverpool and Derby County defender was on the books of Leeds from 2013 until 2015, and played with 21-year-old central midfielder Phillips at Elland Road.
“I am a big fan of Kalvin Phillips,” said Warnock on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds last Friday evening (6pm, September 8, 2017).
“When I was playing, he was starting to come through. He was always training with the first team, but you can now see him develop now into a physical, strong player. He tries to dominate games and he is having that impact at the moment.”

| Season | Passing Accuracy | Tackles Won | Interceptions Won | Ball Recovery | Touches | Shots on Target | Goal Assist | Goals | Appearances | Mins Played | |

| Kalvin Phillips | 2017-2018 | 77% | 15 | 11 | 38 | 294 | 4 | 0 | 3 | 6 | 509 |
| Kalvin Phillips | 2016-2017 | 76% | 43 | 41 | 166 | 1,505 | 8 | 2 | 1 | 33 | 2,133 |

Phillips is one of the best young midfielders in the Championship and is playing well for Leeds at the moment.
The 21-year-old has established himself as an important figure in Thomas Christiansen’s team, and he can only get better as the season progresses.
Leeds have made a strong start to the season and are one of the favourites to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.
The West Yorkshire outfit will return to action on Tuesday evening when they take on Birmingham City at Elland Road in the Championship.
The Whites will head into the match on the back of a 5-0 win against Burton at home in the league at the weekend.
