Everton lost against Liverpool at Anfield in the FA Cup on Friday.
Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock has a message for Everton fans on social networking site Twitter.
Warnock, who started his professional club football career at Liverpool and is now at Burton Albion, has pointed out Sammy Lee’s professionalism during the Merseyside derby on Friday evening.
Lee is a Liverpool legend and played for the Reds in the 1970s and 1980s, but many were surprised when he was appointed as the assistant manager at Everton in December.
The 58-year-old worked with Everton manager Sam Allardyce at Bolton Wanderers and Crystal Palace, as well as at the England national football team.
Many Everton fans must have questioned the club’s decision to appoint someone with a Liverpool history.
Former Liverpool defender Warnock has pointed out to Everton fans on Twitter that Lee is very professional and has passion working for the Toffees.
Everton lost the FA Cup third-round tie against Liverpool 2-1 at Anfield, but the Toffees did give the Reds a run for their money.
Meanwhile, former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino believes that Everton star Gylfi Sigurdsson should be played in the number 10 role, and wrote in The Times: “Gylfi Sigurdsson’s equaliser was a reminder that he should be playing in the No 10 role.
“He is an excellent finisher and that position just behind the striker leaves him well placed to capitalise on that ability.
“He is certainly the most natural No 10 at Goodison Park yet he has spent plenty of time out wide since arriving from Swansea City in the summer.”
