Stephen Warnock has claimed that the only question surrounding Liverpool this season has been the signing of Naby Keita, who ‘hasn’t hit the ground running’, according to the Sky Sports pundit.

The Reds signed the 23-year-old from Bundesliga side RB Leipzig in the summer, with the forward-thinking midfielder starting his side’s first three Premier League matches.

However, since then, he has only started six league matches for Jurgen Klopp, whose team are unbeaten after 19 matches as they sit top of the Premier League table.

When providing a half-term report on Liverpool’s transfers, former Aston Villa defender Warnock questioned why Keita hasn’t produced the goods as of yet for his new club.

“The only questions on the transfers is Naby Keita,” Warnock told Sky Sports News on 27/12/2018 at 12:15 pm.

“Has he really hit the ground running? He hasn’t as of yet. Whether that’s through injury or lack of confidence going into a big club. But I am sure he will come good.”

During the first half of the campaign, Keita has played 18 matches in all competitions, but he is yet to provide an assist or score a goal for Klopp’s side.
