Celtic have lured former defender Darren O’Dea back to Parkhead.

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson has admitted that to the club’s official website he is disappointed to see Darren O’Dea leave for Celtic, mostly because of the timing of the move.
Celtic boss Neil Lennon was handed the reins permanently this summer, and he has been looking to re-tool his staff, which included promoting Damien Duff to First Team Coach.
Nicky Hammond came in as temporary head of recruitment, and Lennon has now managed to secure another backroom addition in O’Dea.
Motherwell confirmed on Sunday that Under-18 manager O’Dea had left the club for a move to another Scottish Premiership side, which Celtic later confirmed was indeed them.
O’Dea, 32, spent the majority of his playing career with the Bhoys before a nomadic end on the pitch, and he’s now decided to turn his hand to coaching.
Having spent time with Lennon at Parkhead as a player, O’Dea has now made his return to Glasgow – but it hasn’t gone down too well at Fir Park.

Motherwell boss Robinson has admitted that he’s disappointed with the move, believing that the timing of the move – rumoured for a month as reported by the Daily Record – really isn’t great, with the season already underway, but understands why O’Dea wanted to move back to Celtic.
“Whilst we were disappointed to lose Darren, he has conducted himself impeccably and we wish him well in his coaching career,” said Robinson. “The timing of the vacancy elsewhere wasn’t great from our point of view. But it couldn’t be helped, it was an offer he couldn’t refuse and we wish him well,” he added.
