Rangers have lured winger Jordan Jones to Ibrox, starting from the summer.
Kilmarnock defender Stephen O’Donnell has told The Scottish Sun that he wishes Jordan Jones hadn’t signed for Rangers – as it means he will have to face him next season.
Rangers have made a blistering start to the transfer window, signing four new players with a focus on their title challenge as well as having one eye on the future.
The Gers have brought in Premier League veterans Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe on loan, whilst also striking pre-contract agreements with Jones and Dundee’s Glen Kamara.
Jones and Kamara were both set to become free agents at the end of the season, but as they are in the final six months of their contracts, they have been able to sign pre-contract agreements.
Rangers could still seek to sign the pair permanently this month, but one thing is for sure – they will both be Gers players for the start of next season.
Winger Jones, 24, has impressed for Kilmarnock since signing from Middlesbrough, becoming a Northern Ireland international whilst dazzling with his pace out wide.
Now, Kilmarnock right back O’Donnell – formerly of Celtic – has admitted that he wishes Jones had signed for an English club rather than Rangers, as it means that he will have to go up against the winger next season, calling him ‘top quality’.
“Jordan has worked extremely hard and come on a lot. He’s top quality,” said O’Donnell. “He’s getting that recognition for what he’s done and what the club has done — because he’s been a massive part of that. I think I’d have tried to get him to go to England instead so I didn’t need to play against him. It would make it easier for me!” he added.
