Jonathan Afolabi joined Neil Lennon’s Celtic after leaving Southampton at the end of last season.

Afolabi moved to Scottish Premiership giants Celtic in the summer transfer window after leaving Southampton in the Premier League at the end of last season.
The forward was called up by Kenny for the Republic of Ireland’s Euro U21 qualifiers against Italy and Iceland.
However, the 19-year-old has suffered a hamstring injury and will not feature in the match, as reported in The Daily Record.
Kenny has suggested that Afolabi ended up at Celtic due to his involvement with the Republic of Ireland set-up.
Kenny told the42.ie: “Jonathan Afolabi had a very good U19s European Championships and had been out of contract but he ended up with a lot of offers that he may not have had if he wasn’t involved with the international team, so he ended up signing for Celtic.”

Good long-term signing for Celtic
Afolabi has yet to make an impact at Celtic, and it is unlikely that the 19-year-old forward will be a major figure at the Hoops rightaway.
However, it is clear that the youngster is a very talented and promising forward who can and will improve in the coming years.
