Sunderland played out a 1-1 draw with Portsmouth at the Stadium of Light in League One.
Tom Flanagan put the Black Cats in the lead after just nine minutes, and Pompey restored parity through Jamal Lowe on 24 minutes.
Former Sunderland forward Elliott was following the match, and he has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the final result.
The former Republic of Ireland international was impressed with the display produced by Jack Ross’s side, and he has also praised central defender Alim Ozturk.
The 26-year-old started the match and played for the entire 90 minutes, and the defender’s performance at the back was quite encouraging.

According to WhoScored, Ozturk has made five starts and three substitute appearances in League One for Sunderland this season.
Sunderland are fourth in the League One table at the moment with 85 points from 44 matches, six points behind second-placed Barnsley, who have played 45 games.
