Sunderland suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of Peterborough away from home on Saturday afternoon.
Marcus Maddison was the star of the show, as he scored twice for the Posh against the Black Cats.
Jack Ross’s side ended the game with nine men due to the dismissals of Luke O’Nien and Charlie Wyke in the second half.
Former Sunderland forward Elliott was following the match, and he has taken to Twitter to give his take on the defeat for the Black Cats.
Disappointing result
Sunderland will be bitterly disappointed with their result and performance against Peterborough.
True, Darren Ferguson’s side are a good team, but the Black Cats should have performed better.
Ross’s side are now sixth in the League One table with 11 points from six matches, three points behind Ipswich Town.
Sunderland will return to action on September 14 when they take on Accrington Stanley away from home in League One.
