Stephen Elliott reacts to injury to Sunderland’s Chris Maguire injury

Sunderland attacking midfielder Chris Maguire will be on the sidelines for the next few weeks.

Stephen Elliott has taken to Twitter to give his reaction to the injury suffered by Sunderland attacking midfielder Chris Maguire.

According to The Chronicle, Maguire has been ruled out for between six and eight weeks after fracturing his fibula during the 4-2 win against Gillingham at the Stadium of Light in League One on Tuesday evening.

The 30-year-old attacking midfielder joined the Black Cats in the summer of 2018 and has established himself as an important player in manager Jack Ross’s side.

So far this season, Maguire has made 23 starts and seven substitute appearances in League One for Sunderland, scoring six goals in the process, according to WhoScored.

Former Sunderland forward Elliott has given his take on the injury suffered by Maguire.

Promotion challenge

Sunderland are third in the League One table at the moment with 62 points from 32 matches, nine points behind leaders Luton Town, who have played a game more.

The Black Cats will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Bristol Rovers away from home in League One.
