Aiden McGeady is playing well for Sunderland at the moment.
Stephen Elliott has stated on Twitter that Sunderland winger Aiden McGeady should be back in the Republic of Ireland national team squad.
Elliott, who played for Sunderland from 2004 until 2007, made the comments while watching McGeady in action for the Black Cats against Walsall in the second round of the FA Cup this past Saturday afternoon.
The 32-year-old former Celtic and Everton winger scored for Sunderland in the 37th minute, as the match ended in 1-1 draw.
The Republic of Ireland international winger is playing some wonderful football at the moment, as he did against Walsall.
McGeady has established himself as an important player in Jack Ross’s Sunderland team and has got his mojo back.
The winger has made 11 appearances in League One for Sunderland so far this season, scoring five goals and providing three assists in the process, according to Transfermarkt.com.
Former Republic of Ireland international forward Elliott was impressed with the performance of McGeady, and believes that the Sunderland winger should be back in the national team fold.
