Dobbie came through Rangers youth academy before joining Hibernian.
Stephen Dobbie has told Si Ferry on Open Goal that he is happy to remain at Scottish Championship side Queen of the South, even if former side Rangers looked to sign him.
Dobbie, 35, is currently the top scorer in Scottish football with 21 goals in 14 league and cup appearances for the Championship side, scoring four in one game against Ayr United as well as a goal against St. Johnstone in the League Cup.
The former Swansea City, Blackpool and Crystal Palace star came through the ranks at Rangers and was a prolific goalscorer in the club’s reserve side. But he failed to make a single appearance for the Gers.
After a loan to Australian side Northern Spirit, he joined Hibernian in the summer of 2003 and Ferry asked Dobbie if he would consider a return to Ibrox before he retires – only for Dobbie to state that he is happy at Palmerston Park.
“I believe I could [play at Scottish Premiership level],” Dobbie said. “Playing in the Scottish Premiership is not something I’ve missed from my career. So it is not something that I have a real need for.
“I play for a club that I love and that is the motivation for me.” Asked by Ferry about a move to Rangers, Dobbie said: “I think that’s long past now [on Rangers], I’m enjoying where I’m at.”
Dobbie turned out for Hibernian, St. Johnstone, Dumbarton and Queen of the South as well as gaining promotion from the English Championship to the Premier League with Swansea and Blackpool.
In his most recent years, Dobbie has turned out for the likes of Fleetwood Town and then Bolton Wanderers under Neil Lennon before returning to Queen of the South in 2016.
