Curry locks in 2027 comeback

Stephen Curry skipped the 2026 3-Point Contest due to an injury but addressed his future plans during media availability. The two-time champion was direct about his intentions.

He made it clear that he plans to participate when the contest returns in 2027.

“I’m in for 2027.”

The announcement immediately generated excitement given Curry’s résumé in the event. He is widely viewed as the greatest shooter in NBA history and has previously won the contest multiple times.

Durant and Lillard on his wish list

Curry went beyond confirming his return and spoke about the type of competition he would like to face. He suggested that a star-powered lineup would make the event even more compelling.

He specifically mentioned renewing his rivalry with Damian Lillard and referenced Kevin Durant as part of the kind of elite group he would like involved.

“Me and Dame got to run it back… I’ll try to get Klay. Kev. Let’s go.”

Lillard owns multiple 3-Point Contest titles, while Durant is regarded as one of the most dynamic scorers in the game.

The prospect of Curry, Lillard and Durant competing in the same contest would instantly boost anticipation.

The 2027 event remains two seasons away, but Curry has already helped build intrigue. If those names ultimately commit, the contest could feature one of the most star-studded fields in recent memory.
