Stephen Craigan made the surprise claim about the Celtic boss amid reports linking him with the Leicester City job.

Stephen Craigan told BT Sport that he believes that there are a large number of Celtic fans who would be quite happy to see Brendan Rodgers leave Parkhead amid speculation linking him with the Leicester job.
The Foxes are looking for their next manager after sacking Claude Puel at the weekend. The Guardian reports that Rodgers is their number one target and they are planning to make an immediate move for the Hoops boss.
It would appear to be a huge blow for the Bhoys if Rodgers was to leave. He has enjoyed so much success, and emphatically shut the door on any challengers after Ronny Deila’s tenure arguably allowed them to start closing the gap.
If there was one criticism of Rodgers’s tenure, it would arguably be that Celtic have been unable to make a bigger impression on the European stage. They have been handed some horrible Champions League group draws, but they have been disappointing in the Europa League.

Rodgers has not been exempt from facing criticism for some of their European performances, but the large majority of fans seem to believe that he should have had more backing in the transfer market to be able to turn Celtic into a greater force on the continental stage.
But while it would appear that most Hoops fans will be hoping that Rodgers rejects Leicester, Craigan has made the surprising claim that many actually want him gone.
“Isn’t it funny? They’ve got a manager that’s going for a treble Treble. Probably never been done before, and everybody wants rid of him,” he told BT Sport. “Celtic fans aren’t happy, people want to move on. Things have to change, you’ve got to move on. To what? Back to Ronny Deila?”

After being challenged by a very surprised Chris Sutton, he added: “Not everybody, but I think there’s a lot of Celtic fans who would be quite happy if he left, which I find astounding because he’s been incredible.”
Of course, amongst a fanbase as large as Celtic’s is, there are bound to be a decent handful of fans who feel that Rodgers is not doing a good enough job. But surely most of the Hoops fans believe that keeping their current boss could be one of the best pieces of business the club can do over the coming months.
Celtic fans, is Craigan right to suggest that a large number want Rodgers gone?
