Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic have been linked with Jack Hendry of Dundee in the January transfer window.

McCann has revealed that Celtic’s offer for the 22-year-old defender was very low.
“There’s been a bid, a low bid, very low, but nothing since,” McCann told Sky Sports. ”I would think there would be more interest in the player but clearly they were told it wasn’t enough and that will be the message if it continues in that vein.”

Former Motherwell and Northern Ireland international defender Stephen Craigan has given his take on Celtic’s interest in Hendry.
While the 41-year-old rates the 22-year-old defender, he does not seem to think that the Dundee youngster is a long-term solution for the Hoops.
Craigan said about Hendry on the Scottish Football Extra show on BT Sport 1 on Friday evening (6:57pm, January 26, 2018): “I like Jack Hendry as a player.
“The question would be if Brendan Rodgers wants to build a side to win the Europa League or even go far as he can in the Europa League, to build for Champions League next year, will Jack Hendry strengthen that pool of players?
“Maybe the pool of players, but I don’t think he will strengthen the first XI. I don’t think he can get into the first XI at this moment in time.
“If Brendan has eyes on the bigger prize, which he will have, long term I don’t think he will be the answer for Celtic, but he certainly is one of the best young centre-halves in Scotland.”

Hendry is a talented and promising young defender who knows the Scottish Premiership well, but maybe Celtic should be looking at someone a bit older and with a bit more experience, someone in their mid-20s who will hit their peak in two or so years.
Celtic will win the Scottish Premiership title with ease this season, but the Glasgow giants need good and solid defenders to make an impact in Europe, this campaign and the next.
The Hoops will face Hibernian at Celtic Park in the league this afternoon.
