BT Sport pundit Stephen Craigan has cast doubt as to whether Motherwell winger Jake Hastie will get into the Rangers team next season.

Steven Gerrard recently confirmed that the club are ‘on the cusp’ of announcing the signing of the highly-rated Premiership attacker, as quoted by the Daily Record.

But speaking to BT Sport, as posted on their official Twitter account, Craigan was unsure as to whether Hastie has made the right choice, playing wise, in moving to Ibrox.

On whether Hastie is making the right decision moving to Rangers: “There’s a lot been spoken about whether it’s good financially for him, yes it will be,” Craigan told BT Sport. “Time will tell whether it’s [a] good [move] football-wise.

On whether he’ll play: “No, he won’t. You look at Rangers attacking options in the wide areas and they potentially have seven or eight players who can play in those positions. So, you have to be exceptional to be one of the two.”

There is no doubt that if the Hastie deal does get over the line then Gerrard will be signing an up and coming talent in Scotland’s top flight.

Gerrard is building a team to win the Scottish Premiership title next season and he will need a very strong group of players in order to do that.

If Hastie does put pen-to-paper then he will be hoping to step up and prove his worth to Gerrard and the Ibrox fans next season.

It’s not only in the Premiership that the Gers will want to improve. They failed to make the semi-finals of the Scottish League Cup or Scottish Cup this term and that’s another area Gerrard will want to see improvements in.
