Tottenham Hotspur still have hope in their pursuit of Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu.

Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley has told The Irish Independent that Manchester City haven’t quite tied up a deal for goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu just yet – and Tottenham Hotspur are still in with a shout.
The League of Ireland has been something of an untapped market for many clubs, though Championship side Preston North End have been busy over there, landing Andy Boyle, Daryl Horgan, Alan Browne, Kevin O’Conor, Sean Maguire and Graham Burke in recent years.
Other clubs are starting to take notice of the talent available in the League of Ireland, and one player is really forcing England’s top clubs to pay attention.
Shamrock Rovers goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu was called up to first-team duty this summer at the age of just 16, and kept four clean sheets in four games as he became one of the most in-demand young goalkeepers in the world.
A host of clubs have been linked with Bazunu, but the Irish Independent reported earlier this month that Manchester City had struck a deal to sign the teenager, and even invited him to watch their home clash with Huddersfield Town.
The report added that City had ‘easily’ outbid Tottenham for Bazunu, but it seems that the race isn’t quite won just yet, at least according to Shamrock Rovers boss Stephen Bradley.

Bradley has told The Irish Independent that two clubs are ‘down the line’ with talks to sign Bazunu, and nodded when asked if the other club challenging Manchester City is Tottenham, as the two clubs chase a deal that is expected to be a record for the League of Ireland.
“There’s no secret that everyone wants him and we’re right down the line in terms of getting something done,” said Bradley. “There’s nothing agreed or signed but we’re right down the line talking to two clubs.”
“I’d imagine in the next month or so (a choice). But again it’s down to Gavin and the club. He needs to get a good feel for what he decides. It’s all still going on behind the scenes, that will look after itself. Both clubs have shown a big, big interest in him,’ he added.
