Steph Curry may be of the NBA’s best but he still can’t beat his family in one crucial stat

Steph Curry is recognized as the best shooter the NBA has ever seen, but based on the stats, his brother and father might have him beat.

Curry will go down in NBA history as one of the competition’s greatest-ever shooters. He has shattered nearly every record under the sun, especially with the number of three-pointers he has made at the top of the leaderboards.

Despite his status, he is not the only all-time great shooter in his family. Steph’s father, Dell Curry, was one of the most accurate three-point shooters in the 1990s.

Dell was a one-time Sixth Man of the Year winner, and he shot 40.2% from three across his 16 years in the league. Steph’s brother, Seth Curry, is also a superb shooter. He has a career average of 43.3% from beyond the arc.

The Curry family consists of three elite shooters

In the 2024-25 season, Seth averaged a league-leading 45.6%, which is 0.1% higher than Steph’s highest total. Steph actually ranks third in the Curry family with Dell’s career-best percentage sitting higher at 47.6%.

Of course, there are plenty of differences between all three because Seth and Dell are mostly spot-up shooters. Steph is an excellent spot-up shooter but also the greatest off-the-dribble shooter ever.

Steph has over 4,000 three-pointers in his career and will keep adding to his total. Seth is also a superb shooter but has only hit 945 shots, while Dell made 1,245 three-pointers during his career.

With a combined tally of over 6,000 threes, it is hard not to call them the best family of sharpshooters in NBA history.

Steph can still get the same achievement

At 37, many expect Steph to drop off sometime soon. He will be in the final year of his contract in the 2026-27 season, so many expect him to step away. Curry could still re-sign for additional seasons because he is not falling off with his three-point shooting.

Steph drained 311 three-pointers in the 24-25 season at a 39.7% clip, which was good for third overall in the league behind Anthony Edwards and Malik Beasley. Edwards and Beasley duelled for the top spot, but Steph kept in step all season despite only playing 70 regular season games.

Due to the sheer volume of three-pointers he shoots every season, Steph might not get the same achievement as his brother and father. However, he has proven he can shoot above 40%, as he did it 13 times in his career, leading to his career average of 42.3%.
