Premier League giants Liverpool and Arsenal want Ajax winger Antony and Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert believes it’s only a matter of time before the Eredivisie star is joining a ‘top foreign club’, speaking to Voetbal International.

How on earth do you replace the seemingly irreplaceable?

That is what many Ajax supporters might have been wondering when Hakim Ziyech completed his move to Chelsea in the summer of 2020.

Well, here’s your answer.

You invest £13 million in a Brazil U20 international who, with his wand of a left foot, spell-binding skill and penchant for magic moments, represents another remarkable success story from a club who’s recruitment record would give any other club in Europe a run for their money.

“I don’t know where they got him from,” says an awe-struck Thierry Henry. “They manage to find these players, Ajax.

“The quality that he has in one-v-one in the box is second to none. The guy delivers every single time. The quality that he has is second to none.”

When Antony leaves the Amsterdam Arena – and he looks set to do just that sooner rather than later – do not back against gold-panning Ajax finding another diamond in the rough.

According to UOL, Jurgen Klopp is backing Liverpool’s pursuit of the 22-year-old Brazil international. Arsenal are in the mix too, with technical director Edu Gaspar a huge fan of a player he tried to sign all the way back in 2019 (Calciomercato).

Arsenal and Liverpool want Antony from Ajax

“If you look at individual class, I’m a big fan of Antony,” Kluivert says. “This is a real Ajax attacker. His technique, the speed, the brutality and his often-decisive actions: this is what we like to see in Amsterdam.

“It must be wonderful for the midfielders and defenders to play with Antony, because you can (give him the ball) in any situation. Whether there are two or three men marking him, he demands the ball and is immediately threatening. He will never hide.

“I think it won’t be long before Antony will make the step up to a top foreign club.”

In 33 games, Antony has contributed a combined 20 goals and assists for the newly-crowned Eredivisie champions.
