Reported West Ham and Leeds United target Frederik Alves Ibsen is a “big step closer” to sealing a move away from Silkeborg, the Danish outfit have confirmed in an official statement on their website.
With the January window less than two months away, one of the most exciting young talents in Scandinavia appears to be on his way to England.
A Leeds side that has made a habit of unearthing rough diamonds from some of Europe’s lesser leagues have expressed an interest. However, according to the Daily Mail, the London Stadium is Alves Ibsen’s most likely destination.
BT reported on Tuesday that West Ham are expected to pay £1 million while handing the Denmark U21 international a four-year contract.
And while Silkeborg were reluctant to give anything away regarding Alves Ibsen’s destination, they have informed the Copenhagen Stock Exchange a departure is imminent.
“This morning, Silkeborg informed the Copenhagen Stock Exchange that the sale of Frederik Alves Ibsen has come a big step closer,” they write.
“It is the company’s expectation that (the transfer will happen) before the end of the year, whereby the player can formally change club in January 2021.”
Interestingly, Silkeborg add that Alves Ibsen’s move could earn them up to £2.5 million, far more than the fee reported in some media outlets.
There is the issue of a work permit, however, with the FA needing to grant Alves Ibsen permission to play in England.
