Stefanos Tsitsipas has pulled out of the Hellenic Championship in Athens, ending his 2025 ATP season.
The Greek player was expected to play at the new-look ATP 250 event alongside Novak Djokovic but withdrew two days before the tournament due to injury problems.
Tsitsipas has been struggling with back pain this season, causing him to miss both the Shanghai Masters and the ongoing Paris Masters.
He did make an appearance at the Six Kings Slam exhibition in Saudi Arabia but was knocked out by Jannik Sinner in straight sets after just 76 minutes on court.
With his withdrawal from Athens, Tsitsipas has now called time on his 2025 season, potentially setting up a challenging start to 2026.

Tsitsipas’ ranking slipped to 34th in the world during the season, marking his lowest spot since back in 2018.
He began the year ranked 11th but couldn’t hold onto a lot of points, losing ground at events where he’d performed well the previous season.
The Hellenic Championship was supposed to be a chance for him to finish on a positive note and pick up some ground, but pulling out has only added to his challenges heading into 2026.
If he doesn’t make deep runs early next year or misses tournaments altogether, Tsitsipas could find himself outside the seedings for the Australian Open.
That would be his first time unseeded at a major since Roland Garros in 2018 when he reached the second round. It’s another reminder of how much work lies ahead if he’s going to climb back up the rankings next year.

Despite one of his most challenging seasons on tour, Stefanos Tsitsipas still managed to add a trophy to his collection.
The Greek extended his run of winning at least one title per year to eight straight seasons by lifting the trophy at the Dubai Tennis Championships.

Tistispas defeated several top players in that run, including Matteo Berrettini, Karen Khachanov and Felix Auger-Aliassime.
But after that success, things went downhill, and now he’s facing what could be a difficult start to 2026.
