Stefan O’Connor left Arsenal to join Newcastle United in the summer transfer window.
Stefan O’Connor has explained to The Chronicle the similarity between Arsenal and Newcastle United.
O’Connor joined Newcastle in the summer transfer window after leaving Premier League rivals Arsenal at the end of last season.
The 20-year-old is a talented and promising young defender, but the Englishman failed to make an impact at Arsenal and did not break into the first team.
The centre-back had two separate loan spells at York City and MVV Maastricht during his time at the Gunners, and he will now be aiming to impress at Newcastle.
O’Connor will initially be part of the Newcastle Under-23 side, and he will then try to make himself part of the first team.
The former England Under-17 international has outlined the similarity between Arsenal and Newcastle.

“I’ve settled well at this club,” O’Connor told The Chronicle. “All the players and staff are really good.
“It’s kind of similar to Arsenal in a way because these boys like to play football too, which is kind of helpful. I just want to push on from here. It’s a massive club with a big fanbase.
“I’ve played against Newcastle for years and I’ve always felt like it’s a great place to play football so I really want to push on to a high level here and really test myself.”

Arsenal are one of the biggest clubs in England and will be aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League next season.
As for Newcastle, Rafael Benitez’s side will feature in the Premier League next season after winning automatic promotion from the Championship at the end of the 2016-17 campaign.
