Paul Merson has urged Eddie Nketiah to ‘stay’ at Arsenal ahead of the transfer window closing, as he told Sky Sports (31/01/22 at 2:55 pm).

The former midfielder shared that Arsenal are still a ‘great club’ even if they have fallen in their ways in recent years and Nketiah needs to see that.

Nketiah’s contract in north London expires in the summer and, at this moment in time, he will leave on a free transfer.

Given his age and potential, it would be bad business from the Gunners because they either need to sign him up to a new contract.

Or make the bold call by selling him so they can get as much money as they can out of his poaching talents.

Whilst it’s highly unlikely Nketiah will leave on deadline day, Merson still urged the Hale-End star to remain at the Emirates ‘as long as you can’.

“He’s a young kid and is only 22,” said Merson. “For me, from past experiences, I would stay at Arsenal.

“They are crème de la crème of a football club still. I know people go they aren’t top, but they are still a great club. Stay there as long as you can stay there.”

Mikel Arteta is searching for that number nine to take them forward and this is Nketiah’s chance to take that opportunity with both hands.

With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang out of the picture, it has increased Nketiah’s game time at the club.

If Nketiah can showcase his goalscoring touch, then he might just save his boyhood club millions and millions in the transfer market.

Whilst Arsenal fans would have liked their club to sign a number nine this month, the fact of the matter is, unless something drastic happens, no one will arrive, which only provide Nketiah with the limelight to shine.
