Speaking on talkSPORT (7/2/23 8:15AM), Neil Warnock has been discussing the vacant Leeds United managerial position and Carlos Corberan.

The Spaniard has been named as one of the top candidates for the Leeds job after the sacking of Jesse Marsch, and it looks as though the Whites are keen on the West Brom boss.

However, Warnock thinks that Corberan would be making a mistake if he were to join Leeds at this juncture, stating that he is doing really well at West Brom and that he should stick with the Baggies at this point.

Stay at West Brom

Warnock warned Corberan about the idea of taking the Leeds job.

“I think Carlos should stay where he is, where he’s doing well. They have a decent squad and I don’t think he’s managed anywhere like Leeds. Yes, he’s managed under Bielsa and he had a coaching role, but that’s different to managing them. I don’t think it would work if he came back. He should just enjoy what he’s doing now and they have a good job at West Brom,” Warnock said.

In at the deep end

Corberan is certainly a contender for the Leeds job, but he would be a fool to take the role on at this point.

Becoming a successful manager is about taking the right jobs at the right times, and at this moment, the Leeds job isn’t the right job for any manager to take.

The Whites are a disjointed outfit at the moment and it will take some job to turn them around.

Corberan’s stock is only going up at West Brom, and he should continue to ride that wave and grow his reputation in the game rather than taking a risk with Leeds.

Warnock is right, Corberan should steer clear of the Leeds job.
