England fans praised Leeds and Liverpool duo, Kalvin Phillips and Jordan Henderson, for their actions after their Euro 2020 final defeat on Sunday.
Watching Italy lift the Euro 2020 trophy would have been difficult viewing for the opposition, but Leeds and Liverpool men’s in the middle of the park stayed and watched them do just that.
The actions from the Leeds and Liverpool duo have been praised by supporters and how well they have been taught.
Phillips started the game and played the entire 120 minutes in the middle of the park, whilst Henderson came on as a substitute and was then brought off for Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford in extra-time.
Of course, the tactical move by Gareth Southgate towards the end of the game didn’t go well, as England suffered penalty heartache.
On one hand, these England players have achieved something that has never been matched since 1966.
Some, such as Phillips and Declan Rice in the middle of the park, have produced performances beyond their years and experience.
But it will, of course, be a very difficult one to get over for a pretty long time.
Now, these players will have their own private breaks before returning to pre-season for the start of the new Premier League campaign in August.
All Premier League teams have already returned to pre-season, as Liverpool will aim to win back the Premier League title and Leeds will be hoping to finish in Europe.
Nonetheless, this is how England fans reacted to Phillips and Henderson staying behind and watch Italy lift the trophy on Sunday:
