Newcastle United could be handed a transfer budget of £50m in the January transfer window following Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund takeover of the club.

According to the Telegraph, the Toon are eager to take things slow under their new ownership. Unlike sides like PSG and Manchester City, Newcastle are keen to lay the groundwork before going crazy on big-name signings.

The Magpies have been linked with the likes of Harry Kane, Gareth Bale and Phillippe Coutinho since PIF’s takeover of the club. Yet the modest transfer budget of £50m could come as a surprise to Newcastle fans.

Indeed, with Steve Bruce likely to depart the club in the coming weeks, a new manager will almost certainly be the priority for the northeast side before signings can be made.

With the Toon sitting in the relegation squad, a new manager with the right mindset could work wonders with just a budget of £50m.

And with Newcastle having some talented players on their books, this figure could well be enough to secure the club’s Premier League status.
