Celtic left it until the last second to beat Ross County as the Hoops claimed a dramatic 2-1 win over the Scottish Premiership side in what could be a huge result.
Anthony Ralston was the hero as the 23-year-old fullback headed home a 97th minute-winner to send Celtic’s travelling fans into raptures. With Rangers also winning on the night, the three points are huge for the Hoops.
The defender has been one of Celtic’s best players this season and someone who Ange Postecoglou has developed into a fine player. Ralton’s goal last night was his fifth of the campaign, and arguably his most important.
The Hoops played with 10-men after Carl Starfelt was sent off for a second yellow card 11 minutes from time. However, Ralston saved the day with a header at the near post in what was virtually the last moment of the match.
Indeed Ralston has jokingly been compared to former FIFA World Cup winner and football legend Cafu for his performances this season. And last night was arguably his most important display so far for Celtic.
With the Hoops just four points off Rangers, the SPL title race is sure to be a tight one heading into 2022. With both sides refusing to let go of their impressive form, it could be a race that goes straight down to the wire.
Which is why Celtic’s win over Ross County was so important. Had the Glasgow side dropped points, it would have surely put Rangers in the clear of the title race as we approach the New Year.
