Newcastle’s Remy Cabella appears to have adapted well to the English game.
Remy Cabella may have taken a while to adapt to English football since moving to Newcastle United from Montpellier this summer, but the stats suggest that he is getting closer to his best now.
Cabella played a key part in Newcastle’s 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur, setting up Ayoze Perez’s winner after coming on at half-time and his general performances are also improving.
When Cabella arrived at St. James’ Park there was a lot of anticipation, but he seemed on the periphery of games when he first joined.
A capable player in possession, the Frenchman still showed his class on the ball, but he was too often guilty of being too slow or too lightweight in his initial appearances.
However, the stats suggest that he is starting to adapt to the tempo of his new division and that he can start to play the key role he was expected to when he arrived in the North-East this summer.

Noticeably, Cabella has not been dispossessed in any of his last three appearances for the side, which is a huge improvement on his first few starts.
Cabella lost the ball 13 times in his first five games for the club, showing he was being too wasteful to justify his place in the team, but he has worked hard in this area.
His passing accuracy is also impressive, too. Cabella could only manage to complete around 80% of his passes in his first two games, but since he has been getting closer to the 90% mark.
He now has his first assist for the club, too, and the hope will be that he can continue to improve in the future as Newcastle look to climb up the table after building some momentum with two straight wins.
