George Boyd was a victim of the summer rebuild undertaken at Hull City, but they may be ruing their decision to let him join Premier League rivals Burnley.

Hull City are facing up to the prospect of being without striking duo Abel Hernandez and Nikica Jelavic for up to six weeks, the Premier League club have confirmed.

That will leave Steve Bruce considerably short in an important area of the field.

He has already been struggling for firepower and creativity, with summer transfer business failing to deliver the required rewards.

The likes of Hernandez, Hatem Ben Arfa, Tom Ince and Gaston Ramirez arrived during an elaborate rebuilding project.

They have all struggled to deliver, with Ben Arfa seeing his loan deal cut short before being released by parent club Newcastle United.

Bruce may now be ruing his decision to let George Boyd head for top-flight rivals Burnley, with the Opta statistics below showing how productive he has been for the Clarets in comparison to those with the Tigers.

Boyd spent just 18 months at the KC Stadium having initially joined on loan.

He managed just two top-flight goals for the club last season, but has shown this term that he is capable of scoring and assisting.

The 29-year-old would have been a useful asset for Bruce to call upon in his current hour of need, but he is instead trying to chase down those at Turf Moor in an unexpected relegation battle.
