Leeds United consolidated their position in the Championship play-off places with a narrow win over Brentford.

While some of the Leeds United squad would have pinpointed the games against the likes of Newcastle and Aston Villa as the ones where they would have wanted to impress the most, for one of Garry Monk’s squad it was highly possible that it was the clash with Brentford that he would have earmarked for wanting to show exactly what he could do.

Stuart Dallas established himself as one of the Championship’s best wingers during his time with the Bees before his switch to Elland Road in 2015, so there was no doubt that Saturday’s fixture would have been one that he definitely would have wanted to make an impact in.

And most of the statistics – including one crucial one – certainly suggest that he managed to raise his game for the contest.

No Leeds player put in more crosses than the Northern Irishman, and he contributed three of the four accurate crosses that the Whites made all afternoon in the 1-0 win.

Meanwhile, only Souleymane Doukara managed to win more tackles than the 25-year-old, and he managed to win his fair share of duels throughout the fixture.

But it was undoubtedly his assist for the winning goal that was his most notable contribution. A brilliant cross into the most dangerous area of the penalty box was met by a towering header from Kyle Bartley in the dying minutes to settle a tight game.

It was Dallas’ first league assist of the season after a fairly underwhelming start, and Monk will be hoping that that moment gives him the boost that helps him rediscover his very best form on a consistent basis.
