The Arsenal star has been in fine form this season but not quite as well as last season.
Eleven games into the Premier League season and it is fair to say that Mesut Ozil has been one of Arsenal’s best performers so far.
The German has been in fine form, playing a key role in helping the Gunners to third place in the league and level at the top of their Champions League group.

With seven goals in all competitions to his name, few would deny he has been one of Arsenal’s standout performers alongside Alexis Sanchez.
So has Ozil shown a dramatic improvement this season compared to last season? We have taken a look at the stats to find out.

It seems not, in fact, he is performing slightly worse in the numbers than he was after the same number of games as last season.
On a per game basis, Ozil is registering fewer successful passes than he was last season, 51 compared to 53 and fewer key passes.

His overall passing accuracy is also slightly lower, with a score of 86% compared to last season’s 88%. He is, however, posting more successful passes in the final third.
Dribbling wise he has also been better, though, as he has posted more successful dribbles per game, 1.3 compared to 1.2.
His number of shots on target per game is the same but he has managed three times as many league goals, although his number of assists is drastically lower, one compared to nine last season.
