Newcastle picked up their sixth consecutive win in resounding fashion as they claimed their biggest away league victory in 54 years with a 6-0 thrashing of QPR.
England international Jonjo Shelvey opened the scoring in the first half with a deflected effort before Ayoze Perez doubled the Magpies’ lead before half-time.
And the away side kept getting stronger after the break as Shelvey grabbed his second with one of the goals of the season so far with a superb curling effort into the top right-hand corner from 25 yards.

New signing Ciaran Clark then headed in his first goal for the club from a Matt Ritchie corner before Aleksandar Mitrovic made it five with a close range tap-in.
Defender Grant Hanley completed the rout with just over 10 minutes remaining as he poked Clark’s square-ball into the bottom corner to make it 6-0.
All in all it was a phenomenal display from United with every player doing their bit but if one player stood out more than the rest it would have to be Shelvey.

The 24-year-old dictated the game from the middle and grabbed two goals of contrasting quality to put his side in complete control by the 50-minute mark.
The former Swansea and Liverpool man now has three in three for Newcastle after failing to score in his first 19 games for the club.
In addition to that, Shelvey made seven recoveries and wasn’t once dispossessed during the 90 minutes as QPR simply couldn’t get near him as United ran riot in London.
Newcastle now return to St. James’ Park for the first time in three weeks as they host Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday (3pm kick-off) looking for their seventh consecutive win and sixth consecutive clean sheet.
