Stats show Idrissa Gueye’s impressive improvement at Everton

The midfielder has been in fine form for Everton since joining from Aston Villa in the summer.

Eleven games into the Premier League season and things are steady at best for Everton.

After a strong start to the campaign they have tailed off somewhat in recent months and the 5-0 loss to Chelsea last weekend shows lots of work is still needed.

They can look back and be very pleased with one thing they managed to do this summer, though, and that is secure the signing of Idrissa Gueye.

Eyebrows were raised when he was brought in given he had just been relegated with Aston Villa but so far he has been very impressive and looks to be one of the signings of the summer.

Indeed, so notable have been his displays that comparisons to N’Golo Kante have been made on several occasions.

He has shown marked improvement from his time at Villa and comparing his stats to this time last season show just how much better he has been.

He has so far posted more won tackles per game, 3.6 compared to 3.2 as well as posting more accurate passes per game.

His number of key passes per game has also risen from 0.8 to one, while his overall passing accuracy has risen by one per cent.

That has seen him register an assist, something he had not done at this stage of the campaign last year.

The two areas he has fallen in are ball recoveries and successful final third passes, while his goal tally remains the same.

Nonetheless, improvements in five areas for Gueye, who will be one of the signings of the season if he continues this fine form.
