The German midfielder has improved in several areas compared to his time under Brendan Rodgers.

If there is one Liverpool player who has improved considerably under Jurgen Klopp, it is midfielder Emre Can.

The German had impressed sporadically under Brendan Rodgers while playing as a central defensive role and a central midfielder.

He has started to do it more consistently under Klopp though, with the player recently telling the Liverpool Echo that he feels he has been “developing as a player under Klopp.”

But how much has Klopp actually improved his game? A look at the stats suggests quite a lot.

In 18 Premier League games so far, he has improved in six areas compared to the 36 games he enjoyed under Brendan Rodgers.

Can has registered more touches per game and more accurate passes per game, while also improving defensively.

In that department he has posted more tackles per game, while winning more per game also, as well as managing to win more interceptions per game and win more defensive duels than he did under Rodgers.

The only two areas he has regressed in are unsuccessful touches per game and passing accuracy, although the difference in both is minimal.

It is marked improvement everywhere else though, and Liverpool fans will be hoping he can continue such an impressive rise under Klopp’s leadership in future.
