Tottenham’s All or Nothing documentary on Amazon Prime gave an insight into Jose Mourinho’s man-management skills. The Portuguese boss has made good players great in the past, and stats show that he has done it again.

In the documentary, Mourinho tells Harry Kane that he can help him become an even better striker. The Englishman has been Tottenham’s most important player for a while now, but his new manager has really helped take his game to the next level.

Kane had a lot of problems last season. Injuries weren’t kind to him and a change in manager midway through the season is never easy for any player. The Englishman still scored 24 goals in all competitions but managed just two assists in 34 games.

This season, Kane has quadrupled his assists tally already. The Tottenham man has scored 10 goals and provided eight assists in just nine games; an incredible record, even for him.

Comparing his stats from last season to his start this term isn’t really fair considering the circumstances, opponents, competitions and the small sample size of just nine games. However, it still gives a rough idea about his massive improvement.

Kane averaged a goal every 126.6 minutes last term and an assist every 1520 mins in all competitions. This season, the England skipper averages a goal every 65.9 minutes and an assist every 82.3 minutes (Transfermarkt).

In the Premier League last term, Kane averaged 2.1 shots at goal every game and created just four big chances all season. This time around, the Englishman averages 4.4 shots per 90 minutes and has created seven big chances in just five games (SofaScore).

His passing accuracy has also gone up from 67% to 76%, and he averages 41 touches of the ball per game, seven more than last season (SofaScore).

Kane is now on course to have his best ever season in the Premier League. Mourinho was brought in to improve the players and to win trophies. He seems to have done the former with his striker and, if the Englishman can continue this form throughout the season, the latter will follow.
