How does reported Manchester United target Dante get on statistically against the club’s current defenders.

Dante has been reported as a transfer target for Manchester United as David Moyes looks to sure up his defence with Rio Ferdinand not getting any younger and Nemanja Vidic potentially heading for the exit door this summer.

The Brazilian centre back has been a main stay in a Bayern Munich defence which has conceded just eight goals in Bundesliga football this season so if United do eventually move for him, it won’t be an easy deal for them to complete.

We’ve taken a look at how he compares to the current crop of United defenders in several key areas.

Accurate Passing Percentage

Dante has a successful passing percentage this season of 91.4% from league games which is greater than any player in the current United defence.

That suggests calmness, composure on the ball and good decision making under pressure.

Tackles Per Game

Dante has an average of 1.9 successful tackles per game which is again, superior to the current crop of United defenders.

His timing, and once again, decision making appears to be superb in the final third under pressure.

Aerial Duels Won

Dante is winning 2.7 aerial duels per game in the Bundesliga, which puts him right in the mix with any of United’s defenders. Only Nemanja Vidic is winning more on average. However, that shouldn’t come as a major surprise because he’s six feet two inches tall.

Interceptions Won

One area where Dante is behind is in terms of interceptions, with 0.9, meaning only Chris Smalling and Alexander Buttner have worse figures in this area than the Brazilian.

Fouls

Dante is giving away 1.4 fouls per game on average this season.

That suggests he’s as aggressive as anyone else in the Manchester United squad and right up there alongside Phil Jones, although Jones has played in midfield at times for United this season.
