Emmanuel Adebayor and Olivier Giroud are likely to be leading the Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal attacks this Sunday.

Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor is likely to match up against current striker Olivier Giroud in the North London derby this weekend.

Adebayor has produced superb form since he was given another chance to lead the Tottenham attack under head coach Tim Sherwood, while Giroud has had to carry the pressure of being Arsenal’s main man throughout the season.

They have both also had to contend with a lot of speculation suggesting their sides are going to bring in other strikers during the summer, which could affect their positions at their clubs.

Ahead of Sunday’s game, we’ve decided to take a look at how they match up against each other in several key areas.

Goals

The ultimate measure of success for any striker is goals and Giroud is ahead. However, the Frenchman has played substantially more than the Spurs forward which means Adebayor has a better goals to games ratio.

Assists

Giroud is also ahead in terms of assists this season, which shouldn’t come as a major surprise as he plays in one of the best passing teams in Europe. Both forwards are effective when it comes to recognising teammates in better positions to score.

Accurate Passes

Giroud is ahead in terms of accurate passes but Adebayor isn’t too far behind, which is impressive based on the number of games he’s played. It suggests that Adebayor works harder in the Tottenham attack to get involved in the build up and creative play.

Aerial Duels Won

Considering Giroud does play in a predominantly passing team, the number of aerial duels he’s won is impressive. It suggests he’s far more effective at holding the ball up than Adebayor and also more of a threat when it comes to set pieces such as corners and free kicks.

Dribbles Won

Based on this, it’s fair to say that Giroud is not at all effective when it comes to picking up the ball and driving at an opponent. Maybe Spurs could consider letting him have the space to run at their back four, focusing more on containing other players at keeping them out of the game.
