Former Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor is likely to match up against current striker Olivier Giroud in the North London derby this weekend.

Adebayor has produced superb form since he was given another chance to lead the Tottenham attack under head coach Tim Sherwood, while Giroud has had to carry the pressure of being Arsenal’s main man throughout the season.

They have both also had to contend with a lot of speculation suggesting their sides are going to bring in other strikers during the summer, which could affect their positions at their clubs.

Considering Giroud does play in a predominantly passing team, the number of aerial duels he’s won is impressive. It suggests he’s far more effective at holding the ball up than Adebayor and also more of a threat when it comes to set pieces such as corners and free kicks.

Based on this, it’s fair to say that Giroud is not at all effective when it comes to picking up the ball and driving at an opponent. Maybe Spurs could consider letting him have the space to run at their back four, focusing more on containing other players at keeping them out of the game.
