Stats back up claims from Nottingham Forest boss regarding key men

Nottingham Forest Stuart Pearce has seen the goals dry up for key attacking duo Britt Assombalonga and Michail Antonio.

Stuart Pearce expressed his frustration at seeing more goalscoring opportunities squandered on Nottingham Forest’s official website following their 1-0 defeat to Millwall.

The Reds, who had hoped that victory over arch-rivals Derby County would get their season back on track, have now suffered back-to-back defeats.

A reversal on home soil against Millwall followed a 3-2 setback away at Fulham.

Pearce feels that fortune is not favouring his side at present, with chances that would have been snapped up earlier in the season now passing them by.

He told the club’s official website on key men Britt Assombalonga and Michail Antonio: “Some of the opportunities Michail and Britt had, they would have gone on and probably scored a few months ago.”

Pearce would appear to have a point.

Forest took in four Championship fixtures in January, and managed just one win and three points.

They did net four times, but Assombalonga managed just one and Antonio remains on nine for the season.

The pair are getting efforts in on goal, but they are failing to find the target.

It could be that one positive performance is enough to get them going again, but Forest need that to happen sooner rather than later after slipping 13 points off the play-off pace.
